1922
Our founder Ahmet Hamdi Ayker, an officer in the Turkish War of Independance, using his savings from his officer salary as capital at the end of the war, started his trading life with a small store in Buca-Kızılçullu (now Şirinyer) - İzmir in 1922. 1926
In order to develop his businees, he decides to move his store to Anafartalar Bulevard in 1926
1930
Mr Ahmet Hamdi, through the correct evaluation of the days demands, decides to convert his business form retail sales to whole sales of food and basic goods in order to expand his market and grow his business. 1951
By delivering orders to customers addresses, service wholesale started for the first time in Turkey. 1956
Ahmet Hamdi Ayker, included his children in the firm in order to help him with his business he had been working for since a young age, and gave them the experience they needed to grow the business. The business, now run by the families 3rd generation, got its first name in 1956. Ahmet Hamdi Ayker and Sons Collective Company. 1964
For the first time in Turkey, the food wholesale business used computer systems, with a system provided by IBM, for wharehousing, product, client and invoice transactions. 1969
With the construction of the Bornova wharehouse, pallets were used for storage and delivery, a firs in this region, as well has heavy-duty shelves. (Today the same wharehouse is used as the Bornova store.) 1970
4 new supermarkets were opened under the brnad of “UPA Ucuz Pazar” ( Cheap market) These stores used thepartnership and franchise business models. However due to the understanding of the day regarding wholesalers also providing retail services, these stores did not last long. 1989
Turkey’s first Cash&Carry store Tespo openes in May in Marmaris, and the firt barcode based product sales were conducted in this store. 1990
The Bursa store opens. 1991
The Kuşadası store opens. 1993
The Denizli store opens. 1998
In order to provide for the continuously increasing business volume and improve its technology, Tespo moves to its new facilities in the İzmir Çiğli Atatürk Organized Industiral Zone. 2001
The Fethiye sore opens. 2002
The Alanya and Antalya stores open. Adepo.com, a website selling & delivering consumeables to its clients opens for sales. 2003
The İzmir Bornova, İstanbul Alibeyköy and Side stores open. 2004
Tespo moves to its new store in Marmaris. 2007
The Bolu store opens. 2008
The Istanbul Kartal and Eskişehir stores open. |
